Saga

<< Back to Timeline

2002 was the first of eleven Tour Autos to be run without a drop of rain! But the shine did not come only from the sky since many motor racing stars came to illuminate the grid: Jean-Claude Andruet, Bobby Rahal, Jacques Laffite, Jean Ragnotti… many major racing names were present at the Trocadero in Paris, the day before the election of our future President de la Republique, for week of madness. Vichy, Avignon, Andorre, Toulouse and finally Biarritz dotted this 2,000 km route along which the competitors could enjoy the French handpicked secondary roads.

Once again, a Ford GT 40 finished first on the south western coast. But this time, it was the Chiles/Mountford crew, taking advantage over the AC Cobra driven by Jean-Claude Andruet who was navigated by arch-mate Biche. In the Regularity section, Argentina is honoured for the second consecutive year by Sucari/Celada aboard their Ferrari 275 GTB4.
